Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Hyperbaric

Oxygen Therapy

Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease are two conditions that bring about inflammation of the intestines. They are closely related and together, they are frequently called as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). These two chronic conditions can both last up to years and decades. They affect both women and men. It usually starts during adolescence or early adulthood. To date,  it is approximated that there are 500,00 to 2 million people that are affected by these chronic conditions in the United States alone.

Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis are found worldwide but are mostly common in the United States, England, and Northern Europe. It is even more common to people who are of Jewish descent. Ulcerative Colitis though is rare in Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America. It is also rare in the African-American and African populations. So what are these conditions about? Here are more details about these two conditions..

Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic inflammation of the colon or large intestine. The colon is that part of our bodies where waste material is stored. The symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis are rectal bleeding, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Like Crohn's disease, the causes of these two conditions are still unknown. There is also no convincing evidence that these two conditions are caused by infections nor are they contagious.

Crohn's disease meanwhile is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the intestines. The disease primarily causes ulcerations of the small and large intestines but it can also affect the digestive system anywhere from the anus to the mouth. The disease has been first described in 1932 and is named after the physician who first described it. Crohn's disease is also called granulomatous enteritis or colitis, ileitis, regional enteritis and terminal ileitis.

Crohn's disease is also one of the illnesses together with ADD/ADHD, insomnia, Alzheimer's disease and head injuries that can be treated with Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a treatment that uses pure 100% oxygen for its treatment. Its sessions only lasts for less than an hour and involves having patients sleep or sit down inside an airtight hyperbaric chamber breathing in that 100% pure oxygen. What is also nice about the treatment is that hyperbaric chamber can be done at home or an office. This is so because hyperbaric chambers are available for sale and for rent. With such advantage, patients don't need to travel to the hospital or health centers. Patients can have it at home.

So, if you are suffering from any inflammatory bowel disease right now or know any one who has. You can share this information given here and by doing so,you are also helping. Hope we all have a healthy life! Hope we all have an amazing life!
